Just before Thanksgiving, I photographed a day of mini-sessions. In case you’re unfamiliar with what that entails, it’s a full day of back to back 20 minute family sessions.  As a photographer, the day is super fast but a ton of fun, and leaves your head spinning in a bazillion circles! I love getting to meet so many different families in one day, I love that I get to shoot for hours upon end, I love finding new gorgeous spots around the same location as the light changes throughout the day, and I love the super accomplished feeling I have when it’s all over.

The Sutherland in Wake Forest was gracious enough to host the mini-sessions for us. Robert and I got married at The Sutherland over 3 years ago, so I’m a little biased, but it is definitely at the top of my list as far as venues go. I was thrilled to do sessions there because there really isn’t a bad spot on the grounds for pictures at any time of day.

Each family was so wonderful, and I must say – super prompt! In a mini-session situation, if one family is late, it throws the rest off. It’s extremely rare to have 10 families show up early, but it actually happened.

I’m so thankful for each family who came out, braved the cold weather, and trusted me to capture that perfect family photo! Here are a few of my favorites…
