The first time I met Jamie, she was interviewing to be our intern. There was something about her sweet presence that made me want to simply be around her, and after several rounds of interviews I was delighted to offer her the position. Over the next few months, Jamie worked alongside us in the studio. Just like anything in life, when you happen to spend hours and hours with someone each week, you get to know them pretty well.
Here is what stood out to me most about working with Jamie: her pure heart. Her sweet spirit and presence. Her calm nature that kept me grounded on a wedding day. Her diligence. Her faithfulness. Her smile. Her love for Jesus. Her love for other people. The way she rode 10 hours with me in a car one day (to Charleston and back for a bridal session), and never once picked up her phone but instead engaged in conversation. Her servant’s heart.
We began to hear talk about this guy Scott that she was dating at the time… a tall, dreamy, godly man who had really captured her heart. The more we learned about him, the more we loved him. We took a few photos of the two of them, and I hopefully convinced them that one day, they need to get a Great Dane, because clearly it’s the perfect size dog for such a tall guy. We loved him… especially how sweet he was to Jamie.
After her internship, they changed work and schools and lots of things in life kept happening… but their love and relationship remained constant. Of course when I saw they got engaged, I was thrilled!! And when Jamie emailed me about shooting her wedding, I was even more thrilled!
I quickly did the math and realized I would be 6 weeks post partum with my second baby when her wedding day would arrive, but I knew I couldn’t miss it. I had a great team in place that day – at home and with me. I’m so grateful for Callie, my 2nd shooter that day, who really held me and everything together.
Jamie and Scott, I adore both of you. What a joy it was to photograph your beautiful day! I’ll never forget the sweet spirit of the day that matched your hearts.
