I found myself crying behind my camera in a room full of guests, hoping they wouldn’t notice. When Emily’s big sister stood up to share her toast, she said,
“Emily, when you were born, you were the most amazing gift. I knew you were God’s gift to me. I prayed and hoped for a sister, and you came along. I treasured you. I told everyone I knew about you. I even brought you to show and tell because I was so proud of you! You are still that gift to me today, and now you are Todd’s greatest gift.”
I love shooting rehearsal dinners. I always love getting to know the family a bit more and understand more of the couple’ story through a glimpse of their family life and sweet memories they’ve created.
Not only did I see the deep love that Emily’s family shared for one another – she’s one of 5 siblings, and her dad is basically George Banks from Father of the Bride – I saw the love of Todd’s amazing family. A mom and dad full of unwavering support, a sweet brother who Todd adores.
This dinner was nothing short of magical. It took place in downtown Charleston, at the Confederate Home on Broad Street – it was like a secret haven tucked away behind the cobblestone streets. The toasts were full of love and made everyone cry, and the joy this couple had as they hugged every single guest was so… them. Emily and Todd adore one another and they love their families so well. It was the perfect introduction to their wedding weekend!
