Vera’s birth was nothing like anyone expected.
I’ve photographed this sweet family for years now. After capturing their wedding celebration, I continued to capture their pregnancies, births and newborn sessions for all 3 of their girls. Jen, the mama, is an absolute rockstar when it comes to having babies. She looks absolutely gorgeous throughout her pregnancies, labor and delivery (I don’t even understand). I told her she should have a million babies because truly – she makes it look easy! She’s just meant to be a mama.
Her first birth was beautiful – captured by Elizabeth. Evelyn arrived and everyone was thrilled!
Her second birth was… eventful. I was ready to capture Stevie’s arrival, but Stevie had her own plans and I completely missed the birth by 10 minutes!
So for her third birth… we all thought Vera would come faster than Stevie. We were READY. I told Jen I was going to camp out in the hospital parking lot the day before her due date just to make sure I didn’t miss it!
Well, her due date came and went, and Vera stayed put. After being a week overdue, they decided to induce. Vera stayed so cozy ALL day. She was going no where! After being at the hospital almost 8 hours with lots of pitocin, Jen was 5 centimeters. I walked out of the room, and 1 minute later got a phonecall from Ford, the Dad, saying “Nancy… um… you might want to hurry back!”
Sure enough, Jen was a 10, and Vera was ready to arrive! She came quickly as soon as she was ready, and it was beautiful. And thankfully.. this time, I didn’t miss it!
