My thoughts after photographing this session:

I need to pinch myself to make sure that wasn’t a dream.
I just had way too much fun for this to be considered work.
Everything about this session is why I do what I do: it was the embodiment of legacy and love.
My job is just really, really cool.

Let me back up – If I may be honest for a second, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this session. Not because of Sydney and Fletcher (Goodness I already knew I loved them), but because I had to spend 7 hours in a car + 1-2 hours of shooting time away from my 2.5 month old baby in order to capture this session.

But do you know what I discovered during this incredible session?

It was SO WORTH IT.
and…
I ADORE my job. So so much.
I ADORE my clients.
This place, these images, their love… it was worth it.

Also, as a mama, I didn’t realize what good alone time in a car would do for me!! I ended up loving the road trip + the audiobook I listened to on the way.

Because of this session, my love for my work was renewed like never before.

So with that, I’m so grateful for this couple and this experience on a personal level.

But ENOUGH about me! Let’s talk about Sydney and Fletcher and the story behind this incredible home!

Sydney grew up going to this beautiful private family home her entire life. It goes back for generations… her grandmother’s grandfather built it. (Aka her great great grandfather.) I don’t even know how many bedrooms it has… but it’s a lot. They have shared family dinners there for decades. There’s no AC because of how long ago it was built, but every summer they just open the windows and the breeze cools everything off. How amazing is that? There are gardens upon gardens (which happens to be one of Sydney and Fletcher’s favorite pastimes!), and their tomatoes are the best in the WHOLE world. I can honestly say that because they sent me home with a few, and holy wow. They were amazing. There are tennis courts (another favorite activity for S + F) and playgrounds, hiking trails and a pool. It’s what family vacation dreams are made of.

Sydney and Fletcher are the kind of couple who makes you completely at ease from the moment you meet them. After about 5 minutes, I felt like we had known each other for years. They are easy going and kind, and goodness do they love each other. One thing I will always remember about this session? How Fletcher said, “Let’s throw some leaves in the air. I know Sydney would love that.” and “Let’s take a photo on this balcony – it’s Sydney’s favorite.” and “Sydney loves this statue! Can you take a picture of us with it?” He LOVES her in a big way, and there aren’t many guys out there who try to make engagement sessions that special and meaningful for their bride. It was so, so sweet to see it.

Sydney and Fletcher, thank you for a renewed love for my work, for being the kindest couple, for welcoming me to your family home. I cannot WAIT for your wedding!
