I wish you could feel what I was feeling hours before this session. Will and I were sitting in a coffee shop watching constant rain outside the window the entire morning, and all I kept thinking was, “I can’t believe we flew to NYC to shoot an engagement session in this weather!” I was bummed to say the least. Sarah and I chatted on the phone trying to figure out what to do, and it appeared that the rain would stop around 3pm for an hour. She had a hair appointment set, so we decided to go for it and hope for the best.
GOODNESS I am so glad we did! I’ve never seen the weather do a complete 180 in a day like it did that day! The rain stopped, the sunshine came out, and I have never been a happier photographer! All of us couldn’t stop smiling!
Sarah and Drew proceeded to take me and Will to all of their favorite spots in their neighborhood DUMBO (which I learned stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). I couldn’t get enough of the city! It was so beautiful. I loved getting a glimpse of their life, too. I learned about how Drew takes a boat to work every day, how they walk to their favorite restaurants, and how they love their rooftop terrace. We ended the session on that rooftop, and it was absolutely perfect.
That afternoon will forever be remembered as one of my favorite engagement sessions I’ve ever photographed. The weather, the sweet couple, the city… it was like a dream. I’m so thankful for this work, and I can’t wait for their wedding this Spring!
