Whenever I photograph the wedding of a dear friend, I get extra excited.
Whenever I photograph the wedding of another amazing photographer, I get extra nervous.
Whenever I photograph the wedding of someone on the NRP Team, I get crazy nervous-excited.
I had the joy and honor of photographing Olivia and Andrew’s incredible wedding this past October. It was lovely in every sense of the word! If you know Olivia, you aren’t surprised by this one bit. Her impeccable taste of style and planning in every day life leaves me blown away, so I knew that their wedding would be so special. Not to mention the fact she’s an incredible photographer! She has an eye for light and detail and all the things we photographers care so much about, so of course that entire day was like a dream for me.
More than the details and beauty and joy that is so evident in every single photograph, I need a moment to tell you about Andrew and Olivia. Because I am positive I’ve never met a couple like this one.
Andrew and Olivia have been dating since they were ages 15 and 14, respectively. After dating for 7 years, he proposed in a plane flying high above Raleigh – one of the most thought out, sweet proposals I’ve ever heard of. I had THE most fun photographing their engagement session! They waited for the perfect time to get married, and while they are still young, their maturity is astounding.
I’ll be honest: they are completely different. Andrew is strong, opinionated, goofy, intentional, and a man’s man in every way. He loves war movies and leadership and he is the utmost gentleman. He also can make you laugh more than just about anyone, and he has the greatest, most joy-filled smile. Olivia is lovely, joyful, delicate, tender, she loves with all that she is, and she cares so deeply for people – especially for being an advocate of those who don’t have a voice. They are completely opposite in the best of ways (we even had an NRP Team personality test prove this to be true!), but they are meant to be together and sharpen one another for life. They are simply amazing together.
Here’s what they have in common: They LOVE Jesus. They adore one another. They are strong leaders. They are both incredibly stylish! And even so, they care more deeply about the people around them than any material thing. They are so much fun to be around, and they light up a room – especially when they are together. I am honored to be their photographer, but more honored to be their friend. I learn from them and love them dearly.
Mr. and Mrs. Suriano, yours was an unforgettable wedding and it was such a JOY to photograph it! I love you both dearly!
