Often in the busyness of wedding season, as photographers and creatives we get caught up in the mundane and routine of shooting weddings. We create timelines that looked very similar to the weekend before, we photograph things we have seen time and time again, pushing us deeper into the auto pilot mode of photography. And then suddenly we show up to a wedding and feel the life of our creativity come back, we are excited and rejuvenated. Nancy Lee and John’s wedding was just this, a beautiful reminder of exactly why I love every bit of my job. Why I thrive in this creative world and why it is because of people like these two that I get to live out my dream of capturing wonderful people on such a special day in their lives.
Nancy Lee and John got married at a wedding venue that was created and is run by Nancy Lee’s family. Her sweet grandfather, who past away earlier this year, had a dream to create a space that would benefit his entire family, specifically his many grand daughters. So he took this beautiful piece of land he had purchased years and years ago and created what became one of the dreamiest venues I have ever worked at. Every detail that this sweet venue holds is significant to their family. The home was built with bricks and steel beams used from one of Nancy Lee’s grandfather’s very first projects and they lay the foundation for the beautiful venue!
Beyond this beautiful venue and all the gorgeous details, Nancy Lee and John are two of the kindest people you will ever meet. As I sat through their rehearsal dinner and listened to all of the toasts, I kept hearing all their friends talk about how rare it was to find a friend like these two, and how even more rare it is that they found each other. I believe this whole heartedly. Both Nancy Lee and John go above and beyond for the people they love and it was so evident on their wedding day. It was a joy to capture the beginning of their legacy together, in a place that overflows with Nancy Lee’s family’s legacy. When you visit North Corner Haven’s website, you will read the words “At the corner where the two Carolinas meet rests North Corner Haven,
a remarkable venue designed to help you create stories worth telling—and retelling.” Nancy Lee and John are a story worth telling over and over again and I can’t wait to see the way they carry on this legacy through their family for years to come.
