This family – the Morales family – holds some sentimental value for me as a photographer. See that adorable little girl (now big sister) in these photos? That’s Daphne, and she was the very first newborn I ever photographed. I remember being nervous doing Daphne’s newborn session – it was my very first one and I had crazy butterflies as I was getting started, but I remember once the session was well underway, the nerves went away and I began to think- “I really love this. I want to do this all the time!” I was thrilled to get an email from Jason a few months ago asking me to come back to document their family as it was growing and they would be welcoming baby number two (Millie) sometime in February.
It was cool to go back to their home (this time without the nervous butterflies), to see how Daphne has grown, and to catch up on the past 2 1/2 years of life! It was also cool for me to peruse Daphne’s newborn photos to see how she and her precious baby sister Millie compared to each other at nearly the exact same age, and to see how my style has grown in some ways and stayed the same in some ways.
I don’t take for granted the opportunity to document families like the Morales’s as they grow. My heart is that they treasure their photographs for years to come, and that I get to continue to be a part of preserving their legacy!
