James had planned to propose to Martha at Dorothea Dix, after her kickball tournament one Saturday afternoon, but he had forgotten to check with Martha about her plans. Quickly realizing that she had made other plans with her girlfriends, he decided to wait. He even went to meet up with Martha and her friends and had the ring in his back pocket hoping that there might be a good opportunity later that day… but there wasn’t. The next day, they made plans to take a picnic to a local sunflower field and it was there that James (and Harper, his sweet dog) dropped to his knee and asked Martha to be his forever.
I love that Martha and James decided to do their session at Dorothea Dix and they even brought along a picnic and a bottle of champagne to pop which made our session so much fun. With the beautiful downtown skyline in the background and the sun shining, it was the perfect setting to capture them in. They brought along Harper, their sweet yellow lab, which was so appropriate as he has been there for all the big moments in their relationship. Martha even told me at their session, “At the beginning of our relationship, (way before I ever told James) I whispered one night to Harper that I was in love with James.” Which was a big deal because she wasn’t the biggest dog lover until meeting Harper!
Congratulations you two! I am so glad that you found each other and am so excited for your Spring wedding!
