Jake is in the Coast Guard, stationed in Beaufort, North Carolina, and he drove all the way to Raleigh just for our sweet downtown engagement session. As we walked up and down the streets of Downtown Raleigh, I loved learning more about life in the Coast Guard and what an a typical day looks like for him. He is quiet and honest, strong and hard working, tender-hearted and the perfect match for his bride, Lauren. She is thoughtful and outgoing; she speaks her mind and has a contagious laugh. Most of all, they love being together. Since Jake began with the Coast Guard, their relationship has been long distance which has not be easy. His schedule is often up in the air, but Lauren is patient and gentle with him, as I can already see what a wonderful and supporting wife she is going to be. I am so excited for Lauren to move down to Beaufort and for them to begin experiencing life together as husband and wife!

During our time together we also discussed one of the books that they had been studying during their marriage counseling, which also happens to be one of my favorite books: The Five Love Languages. Coincidentally, Lauren and Jake have the same love languages as Jamie and I do: Quality time and words of affirmation.

These are absolutely beautiful Callie! I’m glad that you mentioned that book too because I have been interested in learning more about love languages lately and I will certainly have to pick this book up!
