Laura and Dex have the most genuine way about them – it’s a little hard to put into words how beautiful this couple really is. They are truly selfless. As soon as I arrived, they asked me how I was doing, they invited me into their home, they asked about my day and they introduced me to their sweet pup, Bates. (Whom I like to call, Mr. Bates, naturally.)  They really, truly care about one another and who they are with. It was so refreshing for me – to photograph a couple who is that selfless! When I think of them, I think of  kindness in the truest sense of the word: friendly, generous, and considerate. The way they treat one another is so sweet to watch. The way they look at one another and subtly take the other by the hand – it’s like an old love that feels worn and safe. Not to mention how beautiful they are… they really made this session easy and so much fun for me!

Laura is not your typical bride, and I love that about her! They are getting married in Linville, NC which is far from home for her, but it’s a very special place to Dex and his family. She told me as we were walking around UNC’s campus that she is excited about getting married in a location that is special to Dex, his family, and special to them as a couple. Even though it’s not “home” for her, she is okay with that. It’s not about her, but it’s about them beginning a new life together. I’d say they are going to make a pretty wonderful team, don’t you agree? Laura and Dex, I’m so grateful to know both of you, and I cannot wait for your wedding celebration this summer!
