This day is proof that rain on your wedding day can be magical. Katherine and Pete didn’t even bat an eye at the weather because they had only one thing on their mind: to marry one another.
I had been looking forward to this day since I first met Katherine’s mom at their home last year. Katherine and Pete had originally planned to have their reception in her parent’s incredible backyard but after understanding more of what it would take to make that happen, they decided it would be best to move it to Haywood Hall. Katherine’s mom is a master gardener and lover of all flowers, and because of this, I knew that the floral designs were going to be stunning. Giant peonies of all shades of pink and soft ranunculus paired perfectly with Katherine’s incredible, one of a kind dress that fit her perfectly.
After their simple Catholic ceremony, Katherine and Pete celebrated with their families and closest friends in what felt like a secret, enchanted garden. Under the tent, the dance floor was packed from beginning to end, and I loved seeing their reaction to each moment, interaction with loved ones and pure joy as they danced on stage during the last song of the night. It was a perfect end to the night as they ran through a glow stick tunnel and were swift away in a horse and carriage!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Pete Akeley!
