Erin and I go back. Like, way back. Like, we met and became instant friends at church when we were 6 years old, back. What can I say – both of us had only (multiple) brothers; we lived in a male dominated world and just got each other, with our love for sports and our tomboy natures. Our friendship grew as our lives developed… sports, youth group, boys, college, standing side by side as maids of honor at each other’s weddings. And now, here we are, about 22 years later, and I get to photograph her family as it continues to grow. Thank you Jesus for the gift of friendships that last a lifetime!
Now, let me talk about Cory. Cory was around when Erin and I were ballin’ it up on the Upward court. Cory’s had all the heart eyes for Erin since that time, so their story is a bit of a fairytale: boy pursued girl for at least a decade, boy went into Marines and came home a much bigger boy (got girl’s attention), boy married girl, boy and girl had baby number one, and then boy and girl had baby number two in the car on the way to the hospital. Wait, what?
No lie. They didn’t make it to the hospital, and Cory (aka Superman) delivered his second baby girl, June, in the back seat of their Honda in the parking lot of a Wake Forest shopping center. Boom. If that’s not power-couple material, I’m not sure what is.
I love this family. I love my friend, I love seeing her grow as a pretty spectacular mom. I’m thankful for her to have a husband who provides unwavering support in clutch moments. And I love, love, LOVE the story of how June got here in a hurry.
