In Julie’s dad’s toast during the reception, he said “Julie and Daniel know the difference between happiness and joyfulness. Happiness is earthly and joyfulness is Christ centered.” I could not have written a better two sentences to describe the two of them and the feeling of their wedding day. Julie was beaming with joy throughout the whole day and Daniel was calm and steady just like they always are. The flowers, the weather, the people were all beautiful, but it was the feeling of the day that will be remembered: Abounding JOY.
For months I had anticipated that this July wedding would be the hottest one of the year. There was a forecast for rain, so I wore my Classic Callie rubber boots (with a change of flats in the car, of course!) and not one rain drop fell from the sky. (Clare and Olivia even made fun of me for having them on because I looked so silly) Not only that, but the temperature and the humidity was absolutely perfect in North Carolina, in July. I love how the Lord makes himself known even in the weather. Rain or shine, hot or cold, good or bad, he declares his goodness and it’s an incredibly beautiful thing to recognize on a wedding day.
Congratulations Dr. and Dr. Carpenter! I’m so honored to call you friends!
