More than the details, more than their amazing story, more than her adorable yellow sweater, more than the beautiful florals, more than the groomsmen socks, more than their chalkboard signs and delicious food and thoughtful gifts… more than anything, I loved the spirit of this wedding. Utterly selfless and full of joy, Jen and Casey promised their lives to one another on a beautiful autumn day. Their ceremony was all about giving your life away in a beautiful commitment of marriage, just like Jesus laid down His life for us. My favorite thing their pastor kept saying was, “Today is the 2nd best day of your life, because the best day of your life was when you gave your hearts to Jesus.” When a couple says their vows with the love of Jesus and eternity in their hearts, it takes on a deeper, fuller meaning. The commitments of marriage are so much more than making the other person happy. It’s about challenging and encouraging your partner in life to be more like Jesus in every way. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I had ever heard. And just a few weeks ago I received a sweet thank you note from Jen, saying, “Thank you for capturing the 2nd best day of our lives.” It made me smile as I thought to myself, this couple gets it.
It was one of those days that just seemed perfect: the air was crisp and the light was beautiful. They took their time opening their gifts and soaking in the importance of every moment. Nothing felt rushed or stressful, but everything was covered in joy! Capturing Jen and Casey’s sweet wedding was definitely a highlight of 2013. And while nothing compared to the sweet spirit of their day, I did adore all of the charming details and emotional moments in between (especially their getaway car completely covered in post-it notes)! Being that we’ve known Jen since high school, it brought me even more joy to witness and capture her sweet day. Casey and Jen, you are perfect for one another. I’m so grateful to have been a part of your beautiful, heartfelt wedding celebration!
