A few things about Jen that I love:

Her passion for life
She is unashamed of her faith
Her ability to tell a story
Her sweet little family (she’s married with 3 adorable kiddos)
The deep love she has for photography
Her solid boundaries
Her love of pineapples and jalapeños (together)
Her natural eye for photography

We are so glad to have Jen as part of our team for this spring season! She will be working with us in the studio every week, assisting at weddings, rolling film, packaging boxes, running errands, and learning a lot. Get to know her more by reading her interview below!

Where are you from?
I was born in South Florida, but grew up in Texas. I LOVE my life in North Carolina but the The Lone Star State is definitely home to me.

Why do you love photography?
Goodness. Pictures fill the walls, tables and shelves in my home. And honestly, it doesn’t really matter to me where they are from. I have current professional shots, those that are from my parents childhood, all the way down to my instagram photos in frames. I love the way a photograph captures a moment, but is also the beginning of a story. There are fingerprints all over the glass in those frames from little hands pointing and asking to hear. To hear about moments they were never a part of, or to hear what they were a part of but don’t remember. And I absolutely love the privilege of being the one behind the camera that’s capturing those moments for others, too. It’s a true honor to be part of telling someone else’s story for generations to come.

What are you passionate about?
Freedom. In all areas, on all levels. Global freedom all the way down to personal freedom.

What is your current favorite book?
Right now I’m reading Women of the Word: How to Study the Bible with Both Our Hearts and Mind. Absolutely love it and has completely changed the way I have approached my time with God.

Your favorite food?
Right now I’ve got a serious thing for Fresh Pineapple and Pickled Jalapeños. Yes, together :)

What’s something that no one knows about you?
I have a thing for even numbers. If I can, I’ll control situations to be sure they are always there. The air conditioner in the car can be 78, but never 77. And if I’m eating something like mm&ms or pretzels it needs to be an even number. I can’t just have 1 or 3 (even typing that makes me itch).

Your favorite thing to do on a beautiful day?
I’d definitely need to be outside in it! And my family would most definitely be with me. I love planting flowers, eating outside, and reading a good book in my driveway.

What are you most excited about for 2015?
Honestly, I’m most excited about where I’m at right now! I am so grateful for the opportunity to intern with Nancy Ray Photography! I was so ready for this Spring to begin!

Coffee or Tea?
A week ago this would have been neither, but a Large Diet Coke from McDonalds in a styrofoam cup. I am trying to kick the habit though and have recently switched to whatever caffeine source is most redly available. So, both :)

What are you grateful for today?
The predictability of the sunrise, honest communication, the nearness of God.
