I will never forget the day that Elizabeth casually stopped by the studio. I didn’t think anything of it until she said “I’ve got to tell y’all something.” All of us immediately screamed and starting jumping up and down. We knew she was going to tell us she was pregnant and we yelled at her, “SAY IT. SAY IT. SAY IT OUT LOUD!” But then, it gets even better. She pulled out a picture of the sonogram and said “it twins” and we all started sobbing. All I can say is that this story, these babies are a testament of God’s goodness and I’m so thankful that I am able to witness that in the Tate’s.
To say that I was nervous about this session is an understatement. To be honest, I have only done 2 other maternity sessions, and Elizabeth, the most amazing maternity session photographer chose me to photograph her maternity session. Major yikes!! But everything changed the moment that I saw her and Robert. Elizabeth is an amazing photographer, but more importantly she’s a dear friend and when I switched my perspective from photographer to friend, I was flooded with excitement for their session. I love that they chose a location that was meaningful to them. They have spent many afternoons and evenings walking with their sweet pup, Dozer at Joyner Park during her pregnancy. Not to mention, the light was giving me all the heart eyes and Robert, who generally dislikes having his picture taken, had the best attitude and made us laugh really hard throughout their whole session.
Elizabeth and Robert, it is a true honor that you would choose me to photograph this unforgettable time in your lives. As I tear up writing this post, I hope you know how much these two babies are dearly loved. Y’all are going to be the best parents.
