The light was bright and beautiful. The nursery was full of penguins and softness and love and that sweet new baby smell. It was only 9 days after Elijah entered their lives, and Chris and Toni were already settled into this new rhythm of parenting and caring for tiny Elijah.
There’s something about arriving at a home for a newborn session – you never know quite what to expect. The truth is, the parents don’t know either! That’s just the thing with newborns – they will cry or sleep or look around or do whatever they want to do in that moment, no matter how much planning you put into it.
I must say, this newborn session was just a dream. We didn’t leave the nursery the entire time. Chris and Toni were the perfect, exemplary, proud new parents. Baby Elijah did beautifully! He slept most of the time, he cried a tiny bit, and by the end was happily looking around as we wrapped up our session. He even tinkled on the wall, which obviously scored him bonus points in my book. We laughed pretty hard at that one!
Chris and Toni, you’ve got this parenting thing down already. Your family is so sweet and beautiful – I’m so grateful to have a front row seat as your family grows!
