This is it! The final leg of our trip. We had quite the adventure through Rhode Island on our way to Boston. Newport is rather unbelievable if you ask me! We explored the "Cliff Walk" and viewed the "Newport Cottages," which are not cottages at all. They are castles or mansions, whichever you prefer. Will and I love admiring architecture and homes, so this was perfect for us! Not to mention we love being outside in perfect, 70 degree weather. (Who doesn't?)
We then made it to Boston - the city that I adore! We have never been there before, and it was so wonderful experiencing it for the first time together. In my opinion, it's a cleaner, friendlier, more historical version of New York. Maybe that's a stretch? Either way, I loved it. The Ivy growing on the buildings, the rich history, the harbor, I even enjoyed riding the "T" so much more than the Subway in New York. It was so much fun.
My favorite memories from Boston include:
- Exploring John's customized Freedom Trail
- Running on the Esplanade
- Exploring Harvard (and buying my smarty-pants Harvard Shirt)
- Eating at Giacamo's. Delicious!
- Walking in the Boston Public Garden
- Touring the home of John Adams
Above: Stone walls were everywhere in New England. This photo is one of my favorites because it represents New England so well with a big beautiful tree and a stone wall!
Below: Our adorable little studio apartment. Loved staying here!

Burdick's Hot Chocolate! It's kindof ridiculous.

Now onto our Freedom Trail adventures:

The Holocaust Memorial brought tears to my eyes. The quote (2 pics down) did me in.

Introducing Peacefield! The home of John and Abigail Adams!

Thank you for sharing your great photos…so glad you and Will got some time to enjoy each other with some rich history and beautiful weather
So excited to see these photos! You will have to come back to New England. You would be obsessed with Maine – I’m absolutely positive about that!
I second Meredith! Also, love these photos, especially the ones of the Freedom Trail!
Adventures are the best! So glad you and Will had an awesome time (and thanks for letting us all tag along)!
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful photos & your itenerary! My husband & I went to Washington DC for our “big” trip this year and had a blast. We talked about going to Boston/New England next year…after reading about your amazing trip I DEFINITELY want to go next year!!
Looks like ya’ll had an amazing time! You need to visit the Holocaust Memeorial in DC! It is 3-4 floors of artifacts and memorbilia of the holocaust. Its one of the most moving things ive ever seen.
SO glad that you guys had a good time in Boston! You certainly covered a lot of ground! Loved your creative-eye of the city. Oh, and now you’ve seen the statues, Make Way For Ducklings should be on your booklist, even if you don’t have kids yet!
Thanks for sharing all your travel pics!
Nancy, I remember seeing that quote at the Holocaust memorial and it doing the same thing to me! Isn’t that that most beautiful memorial?!
